- Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged and direct injected engine rated at 220 horsepower (164 kW), which can be paired with an available six-speed manual transmission and driver-selectable Interactive Drive Control that automatically recalibrates the suspension settings
- Standard six-speed automatic transmission with driver shift control
- EPA-rated 30 mpg on the highway with the 2.4L and 32 mpg highway with the 2.0L turbo engine

Coming later this year is the 2012 Buick Regal GS in Columbia SC, an even sportier expression of the already sport-injected Regal. The GS is powered by a high-output, exclusive Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged engine derived from the departed Pontiac Solstice GXP performance roadster mated to a six-speed manual transmission, expected to deliver an estimated 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 295 lb.-ft. of torque for a 0-60 mph performance of less than seven seconds. GS also will be available with an automatic transmission later in the 2012 model year.
